Important Clinic Changes – Please Read! Clinician to Writer – How Does This Affect Services?

New test pages

I said in my last post that it was time to start shifting some of the clinic work now to allow myself more time to do other things. To that end, I’m happy to say I have now finished setting up the new test service and have written 15 new test pages for you. Each test page explains your options, gives you a summary and you can purchase the tests direct from the labs there.

Check it out here: New Lab Test Pages – all the pages are in alphabetical order under the main tests page in the menu.

You should find what you need there. I’ve done my best to make absolutely everything I could available easily for you.

My next task is to create some video test walk-throughs for you and I’ll keep you posted (literally) on them as I get them done.

Clinician to Mrs Motivator!

Now the test service is sorted out, my next step is to make a big switch from clinician to writer/teacher/educator.

OK, my hair is short and black (more sparkly grey now), but you get the gist!

The fact is that I feel absolutely stuffed full of knowledge and experience and have a really strong desire to share that in more effective ways, so that more people come across that knowledge and are, hopefully, helped by it.

I’ve said it before, haven’t I: the ‘bum on seat’ sort of practice model is actually not that efficient, much as I love it. How much better would it be if I got that information out to more people and it gave them at least a new direction, a path to wellness that they hadn’t considered before? How many more people might benefit?

People tell me constantly that the stuff I’ve directed them to – mine or otherwise – has been eye-opening and gives them hope and a new path to follow. It may help them, it may not. But if they never came across it – if I hadn’t written it – I wouldn’t have been able to point them to it. Talking people through the same stuff takes a lot of time – paid-for time – which many people simply cannot afford. Not to mention that most of them have forgotten 99% of it by the time they leave!

So, at the grand old age of 53, I have decided I’ve done enough clinic work for now and am switching back to where I started actually – writing and teaching – just with a LOT more experience and knowledge behind me this time! And, I am good at it. I used to be called Mrs Motivator! I feel happiest showing people they have other options to get well and inspiring them to make changes.

The PTSD and getting well myself

I wasn’t going to mention this, but you are family to me and some of you certainly have been with me every step of the way through both my professional and personal ‘journeys.’

One big reason I am stopping the clinic work is that it is sometimes triggering my PTSD. As you know, I am trying very hard to get my foods back after losing them a decade ago. I did really well – evidence the Healing Plan – but I have stalled again. I have been advised several times that my job as a nutritionist (always talking about food!) and now a chronic illness specialist is probably not helping my chances.

I’ve ignored that advice for about 2 years even though I know they’re right! The emails I get daily are full of sadness and hope. Whilst consciously I am good at detaching and remaining professional so I can help people, I fear my subconscious and my amygdala think these stories are to do with me somehow and I get triggered by them.

So, to give myself the best chance of getting well, I have at least got to try distancing myself from it all, haven’t I? This switch from clinical work to writing/teaching will give me a lot more control over what enters my head, if you know what I mean!

I feel a bit annoyed about it, to be truthful, because yet again this illness is restricting me. Which is why I’ve done nothing about it – my stubbornness! But, what comes top – health or work? When you love your work, that’s a tough choice, actually, but health does have to come top in the end, no matter how much donkeying around you do!

I know many of you – especially those who have read the Healing Plan – will get that. Some of you have come off social media, stopped reading things etc for the same reasons – and it has helped – you have nagged me to do the same, quite rightly, and I thank you for that. So, I’m giving it a go. I’m resting my subconscious a bit and calming my amygdala – as per my advice in the HP! Good girl Micki 😉

Practical stuff

Obviously, I’m not sure how it will all pan out. Practically, for now, there will be no more answering emails and live chats all day, no more Ask Mickis, consultations or test reports. Please join me on the FB page, FB groups – Purehealth and TrulyGlutenFree, Twitter and Pinterest.

Instead, I will have my head down updating my current books and factsheets – in total 70 (70!) factsheets in the A-Z and 34 (34!!) ebooks and factsheets on the shop. And then get on with writing articles, more books and plenty of posts. I might even have time to promote them properly and make sure people find the information they need and that could help them if only they knew about it! If I can work out the techy bits, I will also create some step by step courses or videos too.

So, a big change, but a necessary one. It has felt like a kind of calling the last few years to write what I have learned down. I’ve been studiously burying my head in emails, consultations and test results, but the time has come. I said it to P a while back and he said I had to think of myself as kind of like Freud: he helped thousands of people during his clinic days but even more with his teachings. OK, I’m no Freud, but that makes me feel good about it, so I’ll take that! Most experienced professionals get to the stage where they start to want to pass that knowledge on in some way. I guess it’s my time.

So, there is already plenty of information for you to help on the site and there will be plenty more as I get it done. I will be around and about, of course, on the blog comments, FB page, Twitter etc; you can’t get rid of me that easily!

Please do help me in this quest by sharing the stuff I write so others have more of a chance of finding it. And, since my income is about to drop very sharply – eek – please do buy me a coffee or two if you see something that helps you.

OK, new era! Let’s see how it all evolves. Exciting, if a little apprehensive! Thanks for listening. Any encouraging comments below would be great right now 😉 x
