Statins With Your Burger?

I read a report in the Guardian (13.8.10) which just goes to show how far some supposed health professionals are prepared to go to sell drugs.

Dr Darrel Francis and other doctors of Imperial College London wrote a piece in the American Journal of Cardiology recently calling for fast food outlets to be allowed to provide statin cholesterol-lowering drugs along with their burgers and chips!

Quite rightly, Prof. Steve Fields, Chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners said:  “This paper amazes me.  We should be encouraging healthy lifestyles, not pill-popping.”

Couldn’t have put it better myself.
