Did you know you can make a super-nutritious slushy or sorbet out of just fruit and some fruit powder? I know: great, huh!
Here’s an idea to start you off. I got this idea from Artic Flavors, but you can get the same kind of products on Natural Dispensary here too. I always have mixed frozen berries in my freezer in case I run out of fruit for my smoothies. How about using these and boosting the nutrition with concentrated powders?
TWO-INGREDIENT VEGAN HOMEMADE BLUEBERRY SLUSHIE

Ingredients
2 cups (480mL) frozen berry mix (or other fruit of your choice, single or a mix, just make sure it’s frozen)
2 tablespoons blueberry powder
Preparation
- Take the berries out of the freezer and let thaw for 15-20 minutes.
- Blend the berries and the blueberry powder in a mixer until smooth.
- Serve the healthy fruit slushie immediately with a spoon or straw.
If you like it a bit sweeter, you could add some stevia, date syrup or honey.
This recipe works both for a slushie (a bit more runny texture) and for a sorbet – with no ice cream maker needed. Turn it into blueberry sorbet by pouring the mixture in a freezer-safe container with a lid. Freeze for at least 3 hours and mix vigorously every 30 minutes. This will guarantee a perfect texture for your blueberry sorbet.
I’m going to try making some with baobab and moringa powder too to really make a power slushy! Moringa is a bit ‘green’ on taste so it’ll be interesting to see how I can mask that! Any ideas? Mango maybe? Have a go and let me know.
