For years, I have used hair testing to check for mercury but then a few years ago, my go-to mercury test changed to the Quicksilver Mercury Tri-Test, which I’ve listed in the Mould and Chemical Toxin Tests section for you on the shop.
Mercury toxicity contributes to a wide range of symptoms including neurological issues such as anxiety and cognitive decline, fatigue, skin disorders as well as muscular and joint pain.
The Tri-Test identifies both, methylmercury (MeHg), generally from fish and seafood, and (the baddie) inorganic mercury (HgII), mostly from the mercury released from dental amalgams.
It assesses the body’s mercury burden of both sources in the blood and compares this to levels of methylmercury in the hair and levels of inorganic mercury in the urine to show how well both forms are being excreted. How much of the ‘baddie’ type do you have, or do you just need to get better fish?! Are you eliminating it effectively enough or, if not, where is it likely going wrong? How is the elimination doing via the kidneys and hair, are you keeping pace with your exposure?
The test is sensitive enough to measure mercury levels in the body without the need for challenge testing and helps you work out if you have a need to detox it and how you might go about it successfully.
A great test, one of my faves. You can read more about mercury generally on my Mercury Factsheet here. Hope that helps x
