Clinic Notes Digest

A quick digest for you this week as I’m moving to a new rental tomorrow…

We are battery-powered! Fascinating study where researchers can now observe the battery-like activity of our mitochondria.

I do like Holford’s health reports. Good one on arthritis being a metabolic disorder, not necessarily a localised joint problem, this week. Some excellent reminders on how to approach arthritis – lower inflammation systemically, address methylation status and metabolic health, to name a couple. I have found that food sensitivity can play a big part, as he also says. My own fingers are starting to get a bit dodgy – all the two-fingered typing! I can’t tolerate supplements yet, but am working to get onions and turmeric more into my diet as anti-inflammatories. And I’m inventing a non-toxic TGF (trulyglutenfree, grain and dairy free) anti-inflammatory hand cream for myself – I’ll put it on the shop if I think it works!

WDDTY recently did an interview with a leading cancer specialist in the US. They released a ‘simple’ anti-cancer action plan that I thought was quite sensible and could form the basis of a useful patient prevention handout. Plus, they have a new webinar called Everything You Need To Know About Cancer. I doubt it is everything you need to know, but I share it in case.

Great article on Linked In from Michael Ash on how to encourage behavioural change and compliance with patients via the ‘meaning response’.

Always consider trauma and ACE disorders in your fatigue and chronic cases. Sadly, I have personal experience of this (hence my Healing Plan) and I found I had to address the trauma before I could get any food, med or supplement in to help me. Nowadays, I specialise in trauma-triggered illness, including ACE disorders. I actually visited the OHC in desperation and it took them and three other organisations to convince me of a diagnosis of PTSD behind my food and chemical hypersensitivity! They reminded us this week:

Trauma impacts us all in different ways and can be a key part of the jigsaw in understanding fatigue. Trauma both gets stored in our body and dysregulates our nervous system, driving a maladaptive stress response.

They have released a video I thought you might find helpful. I refer people to the OHC when I think it can benefit patients:

That’s it for this issue, folks!
