American researchers have coined the term ‘neurobics’ for brain exercises that can help us build new neural pathways, change habits and strengthen our cognition. I love that name! It’s important stuff, though, as we know that people with better mental processing and agility tend to have slower rates of mental decline and cognitive issues like dementia and Alzheimer’s in future.
Try these easy neurobic exercises: sleep on the wrong side of the bed or sit on the wrong side of the sofa sometimes, get up backwards, brush your teeth with your non-dominant hand, change something in your usual breakfast routine, vary the route you take to work, or move your desk to a different spot on some days, change where something you use a lot lives on your desk.
Fitness for your brain…have fun!
