News: Statins Discourage Healthy Lifestyle Change

I can’t say I find this surprising, do you?!

The Times 6.2.20  “STATINS STOP PATIENTS LEADING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES”

Statins & blood pressure pills may not be as effective as thought because people consider them a “free-pass” to lead a less healthy lifestyle, a large study suggests.  Researchers followed 40,000 people & found those on the drugs were more likely to allow healthy lifestyle habits to stop.  The Finnish study found they were more likely to reduce physical activity & gain weight.  The lead author & senior researcher was Dr Maarit

 J. Korhonen at Turku University in Finland.  Published in “Journal of the American Heart Association.”  (Dr Maarit Jaana Korhonen LicSc (Pharm), PhD (Epid), Dept. of Pharmacology, Drug Development & Therapeutics, University of Turku, Turku.)
