Could It Be Gluten? Listen To The Experts!

If you suspect your illness or symptoms could be gluten-related – or even if you know they are – this is an ideal opportunity for you to find out more, for free. Dr Tom O’ Bryan, whose work I have referred to several times on TrulyGlutenFree, is bringing together a load of gluten experts who will be giving free lectures and interviews online from November 11th-17th. You can access all the interviews for free, which is just fabulous, and you will also be able to download the whole archive or selected stuff if you can’t make it live.

Most people still think that they can’t be gluten-sensitive because:

a) they have been tested for coeliac disease and it was negative (er, nope – the tests are nowhere near as reliable as we used to think)

b) they are gaining weight, not losing it (er, nope again – the vast majority of gluten-sensitive people don’t have classic coeliac symptoms of losing weight, loose stools, failure to thrive)

c) they are already off gluten because they don’t eat any wheat, rye, barley or oats (thrice nope – all grains contain a type of gluten and some people are sensitive to many or all of them so the traditional gluten free diet just isn’t good enough).

If this is till the way you – or your health professionals – are still thinking about gluten, you need to learn some more. Listen to this summit and go over to the TGF site and read up.

Anyway, here’s the blurb for you – some truly useful speakers here and I suggest you put the dates in your diary. Register and the various schedules will be sent to you so you can choose which you want to listen to most – or have a learning week and do all of them, which is what I plan to do in case I can learn something new about this fast-evolving subject. To help you, I have highlighted the people I really rate – I will be making sure I listen to them at least.

Why am I not speaking? Well, I have decided to concentrate on building the resources to help people with gluten related disorders to get well and leave the awareness-building and drum-banging to others. I’ve done much of that in my time; let someone else do it now whilst I beaver away a bit more quietly!
