Here’s a simple exercise to get you thinking about whether what you spend your time doing everyday matches what makes you happiest!
Write down the five most important things in your life eg. improving relationships with your family or partner, getting a job, starting a family, losing some weight, increasing fitness, getting well, pursuing a hobby or passion.
Now write the top five things that you spend most of your time doing in a day or week eg. your job, work, business, running errands, social media, housework, walking the dog, cooking, controlling symptoms.
Look at the two lists – do they look totally similar or completely different? Are there some common items in it, or not? Who has taken over your life, cos it probably shows you are not necessarily as close to living the daily life that would make you happiest?!
Now’s the time to take stock of how you’re spending your time versus doing the things that are most important to you in your life. Start to make some small changes now. You are in control of your own life, and there may indeed be some things you can’t change, but I’ll bet there are a few you can which would get you closer to that happy life ideal. Choose one today, sit down and make a list of tiny steps you could take which would move you closer to a happier position with that particular wish. Then act on the tiny steps.
One of the best pieces of advice I was given, ever, was to do something every day towards that goal. Just something tiny. The tiny pieces eventually start to add up. In fact, that’s how I got to start my business. I started reading something every day about natural health or business and it grew from there. Just do one thing every day, no matter how significant it feels and you WILL get there, you’ll feel more in control of life and feel that you are moving towards it which is very empowering.
End of lecture. Get to it!
