This is a fabulous, organic true English lavender that can be used neat on the skin and is very relaxing for the nervous system. Floral, refreshing, calming, healing. Every household should have some in their first aid kit.

Rene-Maurice Gattefosse ‘discovered’ essential oils by accident when he burnt his hand in the lab and plunged it into the nearest liquid – which happened to be a by-product of something he was making – distilled lavender essential oil. It is still used today for burns in hospitals, for it’s pain relieving, antiseptic and skin healing properties.
How to use
It’s very calming and is commonly used for the parasympathetic nervous system, so helps anxiety, restlessness, insomnia etc – a drop or two on the pillow or a sola wood flower near you at night can help with sleeping issues or anxiety during the day. Maybe pop some in some Marigold and St Johns Wort oil and use as a massage oil to really nourish the nerves (2-4 drops per 10ml).
It is a wonderful antiseptic and since it can be used neat on the skin, it is very useful for applying directly to cuts and sores – great for children and an essential addition to first aid kits. It also helps relieve pain and itching, as well as speeding the healing process.
For everyday burns, apply neat to the area. It is ideal for sun burn and can be included in an after sun treatment by adding a drop or two to your moisturizing cream or to some aloe vera oil and applying liberally. Lavender floral water is a beautiful way to refresh the skin in hot weather or give your nerves a boost – just add a few drops to water and spritz.
To use as an antiseptic mouth wash, add a drop or two to a cup of water and disperse by stirring vigorously – use immediately and do not swallow. This can also be used for halitosis and mouth ulcers. For any throat problems such as tonsillitis, infections and laryngitis, use in the same preparation, but gargle for as long as possible before spitting out. Doesn’t taste very nice, I grant you, but it works! I use teatree for these too sometimes.
Lavender is anti-fungal, so is great for the treatment of thrush. Use as a gargle for oral thrush and for vaginal thrush, put a drop or two on your knickers, or a panty pad – this is much less invasive than the pessaries currently on the market. You can apply neat using a cotton wool pad to fungal toenail infections or in a foot bath or cream for athletes foot.
It can be helpful for headaches in some people, just place a drop on your fingertips and apply to the temples. I find peppermint EO works really well for headaches too.
It is blood cleansing and can help lymph drainage and detox. Lavera means ‘to wash’ and it is known as a physical and energetic type cleanser.
Lavendula angustifolia. Made in England.
