Since so many of you are going vegan recently, I thought this blog post from Nutrigold about vegan diets might be useful for you. It sets out the pros of going plant-based, which are many, but also discusses the nutrients you might want to make sure you are getting enough of.
Personally, I have been largely plant-based for years but eat fish regularly as I need the extra protein. I just don’t do well on purely plant-based. There was a time I used to be frog-marched to a steak house once a month before I passed out for the need of meat! I hated eating it but listened to what my body needed. The best diet for you is the best diet for you, if you know what I mean. I feel good on mine; others may need meat or will be fine on totally plant-based with a few supplements to make sure. That’s what I do for P. He is vegan with a good multi, essential fats as nuts and flaxseeds in his large smoothie every day and B12 spray. Sometimes, I also give him a Vitamin D boost if the weather has been rubbish.
Anyway, have a read and pass along to anyone this might help. I know it’s Nutrigold and they are a supplement supplier, but they are also ethical and I trust them to tell the truth!
