I see that the Women’s Health Initiative (they who did the massive trial of HRT that led to the cancer concerns we now all know about, if you remember) have just reported an update after nearly 8 years of tracking the breast cancer risk from HRT use. Upshot is that there seems to be a statistically-significant higher risk of aggressive lymph-node involved breast cancer the longer you are on combined HRT. For some women HRT is a necessary evil, but should be a last resort, not the first one in my opinion. Read my Menopause and Osteoporosis factsheets for more info and alternative approaches.
