Despite following a famously super-healthy diet and lifestyle, Gwynnie has recently been diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency and consequent low bone density, and this has served to highlight the deficiency epidemic we seem to be seeing at the moment. If she can have it, so can we.

Vitamin D is not routinely checked and it is a known fact that most of us, especially in darker climes, are not getting enough sun to produce it ourselves, so get out there for walkies like your dogs! Vitamin D is high in cod liver oil, oily fish, butter and egg yolks, but make sure you get good mercury-free sources of those fish.

You can do a simple blood test to check Vitamin D status and you can also do the osteoporosis risk assessment if you are worried about bone break-down.
