Essential Oils
These are my top essential oil blends of all time. Ones I have recommended for over twenty years and come back to every time because nothing else matches them. I know you can buy essential oils everywhere now but, trust me, not all essential oils or blends are made equal. A little bit of these goes a loooong way and they are actually therapeutic, not just a nice smell. Organic or wild-crafted, hand picked and distilled by small producers, pure essential oils, no additions, dilutions or synthetics. Enjoy x
How to Use
This quality of essential oil means you need much less than poorer quality so bear that in mind. Essential oils are powerful medicine so treat them with respect, not gay abandon. Don't use essential oils directly on your skin or take them internally. Always dilute as below. If oils get into your eyes or irritate your skin, dilute with a little oil or milk, not water. Keep essential oils out of the reach of children and only use with professional advice if pregnant or breastfeeding. Don't put near flames or on varnished surfaces. Avoid using fennel, sage, wormwood or hyssop if you have epilepsy, or hyssop, rosemary, sage or thyme if you have high blood pressure. Note that bergamot, grapefruit, juniper, lemon and mandarin can discolour the skin if you use them before going into strong sunlight or tanning salons.
All that said, here are some of my favourite ways to use them:
- 1 drop on the base of a sola wood, dried or faux flower and refresh as needed.
- Light a candle and wait until the wax has melted at the top. Blow it out and then add 4 drops of your blend. Let it harden and next time you light the candle, hey presto: a bespoke aromatherapy candle! Repeat as needed.
- Add 4-6 drops to an aroma fan or vapouriser- if you can find a nice one. They all look a bit plasticy to me. Am searching!
- 1-2 drops in steaming water with a towel over your head. Attractive 😉
- For a bath, add 2-4 drops to an egg cupful of bath foam, gel, oil, salts etc.
- For body, add 2-4 drops per 10ml of lotion, oil or cream. That works out at 20 drops per 50ml, 40 drops per 100ml. If you need a therapeutic blend, ask me and I will make one for you.
- For face, add 1-2 drops to oil, cream or lotion, so that's 10 drops per 50ml, 20 drops per 100ml of your base.
