Five Element 5ml
In Chinese medicine, wellness is all about balancing the meridians and the five elements which relate to the different body systems and organs. This mix is designed to bring all of the five elements back into balance, therefore encouraging balance and a healing state.
Ingredients
Cedarwood, Rosemary cineole 1.8, Lavender, Marjoram & Pine
How to use
I used to use this oil in the massage room a lot in-clinic as it is works on all five elements to bring balance. I'd inhale this one on the aroma fan/vapouriser/sola flower etc or make yourself a very supportive body lotion and massage it into your legs and abdomen after a bath or shower when you're nice and warm.
Note rosemary can be quite stimulating so don't use if you have epilepsy or high blood pressure. Check the How To Use guidelines here.
Here is a brief explanation of the various elements and signs/symptoms that might suggest they are imbalanced.
- Cedarwood for the Water Element & the Kidneys. Physical: Low back pain, knee weakness, premature aging, fatigue/burnout, reproductive issues, urinary issues. Emotional: Chronic fear, insecurity, lack of willpower, paranoia. All about fear this one, feeling weak in yourself in various ways.
- Rosemary for Wood & the Liver. Physical: Headaches, dizziness, tight muscles/tendons, eye problems, PMS. Emotional: Suppressed anger, outbursts of rage, feeling "stuck," lack of motivation. Anger and 'tightness' is the big one here, I find.
- Lavender for Fire & the Heart. Physical: Heart palpitations, insomnia, excessive sweating, poor circulation, skin inflammation. Emotional: Extreme joy/manic behaviour, anxiety, feeling uninspired, lack of joy, apathy. A lack of fire in your belly, or too much of it, if you like.
- Marjoram for Earth & the Spleen. Physical: Digestive issues (bloating, diarrhoea, weak digestion), fatigue, brain fog, sugar cravings, weight gain. Emotional: Excessive worrying, rumination, feeling "stuck" mentally, lack of focus. This one is all about not processing things, not being able to move forward, holding onto things in some way.
- Pine for Metal & the Lungs. Physical: Respiratory issues (asthma, colds), dry skin, constipation, allergies, poor immunity. Emotional: Lingering grief, inability to let go, rigid thinking, feelings of worthlessness. I think of this one as sadness, not being able to breathe and live life, to let go.
