Just to let you know that ND has listed a new range of water filter jugs called Zero Water.
Tap water is a notoriously difficult thing for corn-sensitives and I know some have problems with the charcoal in such water filters too, so I checked them out for us. They said:
“The only vegetal component in ZW filters is the Carbon, which is made from coconuts for which some people are allergic to.”
So, of course, I went back and asked more:
Can you also confirm if the carbon has been activated using corn at all and if the plastic of the filter jug is corny. It is a common issue in corn-sensitives so just double-checking eg. from corn allergy girl site: https://cornallergygirl.com/2013/06/03/wheres-the-corn-in-foods/#WATER
I always like to check and raise awareness when I can too – thanks ever so!
WATER- FILTERED: the activated charcoal in some water filters could be from corn, or could have been “activated” using a corn based acid. Filters that add minerals back in to the water will do so via corn-based carriers. There are reports of antimicrobial polymers such as antimicrobial toilet seats causing BIG contact reactions with corn allergics. The actual housing of the water filter could be made from an antimicrobial polymer that is corny as well. More on water in The Water Post.
They have confirmed: “No corn is used with any ZeroWater components, processes or products.”
So, I have added them onto the TGF Master List for you. Hope they help 🙂 Let me know if you try them, ta.
