One of you recently did a load of research finding meat and fish suppliers that would be suitable for a low histamine diet and has generously shared it for us all, thank you V! Here are their comments in case they help you; I’ve added some links too. I have also added these to the Diet section of the Histamine Factsheet for you.
I’ve found a couple of suppliers that can provide low histamine meat, aside from Green Pasture Farms (not impressed with their service TBH).
Primal Meats do a couple of different boxes on a schedule, not that frequent though – every 6-8 weeks by the look of it for both lamb and beef. They don’t age their meat, however they don’t freeze it, so it’s sent out fresh within 24 hours, then we have the choice of freezing it ourselves.
Pheasants Hill Farm do freeze their low histamine meat before sending it out and they are going to add grain free burgers to their low histamine range, plus minute steaks after I suggested them as an alternative breakfast! They should appear on the website shortly. The only downside is they are based in Northern Ireland, and although they can get the meat to us in 24 hours, the shipping is expensive. This company is my preferred option though, so a monthly order may still be worth it. It seems low histamine meat in general is a fair bit more expensive with any supplier though [was it ever thus, I suppose it needs more handling to be fair, Ed].
I’ve also found a low histamine fish supplier: Sea Fresh. They have a low histamine range that they freeze at sea, and they ship with dry ice, so the fish stay totally frozen. They are also testing other shipping methods. I’ve managed to order salmon, hake and a couple of other types. They seem to make efforts to be sustainable too.
