Prostate cancer is now the most commonly diagnosed cancer in UK. An analysis by Prostate Cancer UK found numbers have jumped by a quarter since 2019.

55,033 men in the UK were diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2023 – a big increase on the 44,186 UK prostate cancer cases in 2019. A Dept of Health spokesman said that men are having to wait too long for diagnosis and treatment.

This is (sort of) good news in that Prostate Cancer UK set out to find thousands of ‘missing men’ not being diagnosed with the cancer – and it looks like many more have been from these figures.

I refer you to my previous post here, though, about knowing whether a raised PSA (the mainstream test) is enough, or can lead to unnecessary treatment. New tests can help you find out if it is an aggressive type that needs treatment. Have a read here, and do please pass on to any of your male friends and family.
