DIY TGF Corn Free Toothpaste

set of zero waste oral products

Thought some of you might find this useful. Trying to find a good corn free toothpaste has eluded me for years – one that I can tolerate anyway – mostly because of the glycerins, xylitols, extracts etc. I came across this recipe the other day, so share it in case it helps you.

TrulyGluten Free Toothpaste

2 tbsp clay, you could use bentonite or white/kaolin

1-2 tbsp sodium bicarb (making sure it is a GF one, of course; I use this one)

1 tbsp sage powder

1/4 tsp sea salt (eg. maldons)

15-20 drops of essential oil. I use this gum mix, but you could use simple peppermint, spearmint, fennel or clove (see here for EOs). I add a few drops of fennel because I like the sweet, aniseed taste.

Mix it all together using the end of a metal spoon and keep in a jar. Then, wet your toothbrush and dip it into the mixture and brush as normal.

Let me know how you get on if you try it. And if you have found a successful corn free/TGF ready made toothpaste you like and tolerate!
