Collagen In Your Hot Chocolate!

If you have a leaky gut, you will probably know that getting more collagen or gelatin into your diet can help because it gives the body the raw materials to heal wounds (see more on this below). How to eat it, though?

I thought this was a really neat trick – stick it in your hot chocolate (or other beverage – mine is currently cashew milk with vanilla powder and honey, yum!).

Check it out here. Yum, yum, in your tum – and doing it some good!

Incidentally, on the TGF group, we have found the Great Lakes brand the best. The green tub is useful if you have a sensitive tum. The red tub is made differently so turns into a jelly-like substance, which is great for making fruit ‘sweets’ or, er, jelly!

Collagen Healing Jelly

Mix 3 tbsp of the red tub gelatin with a little cold water in a measuring jug, then add a little boiling water. Pour in some cherry juice – loads of Vitamin C so also healing – or some other juice that you can have, and put in the fridge for an hour or so, no longer or it will go quite hard-set. After an hour, it will be a lovely soft jelly which tastes gorgeous but is also doing you a power of good.

I have forgotten for the life of me who gave me that recipe but I suspect it was someone on the TGF group – so thank you, whoever you are!

And, if you want to know more about collagen and gelatin, there is a fab explanation here. Not just good for leaky gut, but for skin, stretchmarks, joint and muscle repair and a lot more. Have a read:

Hope that helps – not often I can say ‘eat chocolate and jelly,’ but this time, please do!
