“TINY BENEFIT OF £300MILLION A YEAR HEALTH CHECK-UPS”
The NHS MOT health check for people aged 40-74 to spot signs of illness has only marginal benefits, a Dept of Health funded study has found. In 2013 the Royal College of GPs branded the checks “a waste of money.” A new study published in the Canadian Medical Journal used GP records of 138,000 patients from 2009-2013. The check-up only reduced the 10-year risk of cardiovascular disease in a patient by 0.21%.
